2023 Toyota Highlander – It seems that Toyota has started to retire its tried-and-true 3.5-liter V-6 engine. This 2023 Highlander 3rd-row vehicle replaces the naturally aspirated engine with an upgraded turbocharged 2.4-liter inline-four engine that generates 265 horsepower, and 309 pounds-feet of torque. That’s a reduction of 30 horsepower from the V-6 engine, but it’s an improvement of 46 pounds of torque. Toyota states that the four-cylinder engine will get an equivalent 24mpg as the V-6 about its EPA rating.

The brand new gas engine will once again be paired with an automatic transmission that has eight speeds and either all-wheel or front-wheel drive. It is also known as the Lexus NX350 also uses a version of this engine and in that version, it produces 275 horsepower and 317 pounds-feet of torque. The towing capacity of the Highlander will remain the same at 5500 pounds. The Highlander’s hybrid motor will not change with the 2019 model year and will likely attain identical EPA ratings of 36 mpg or more for front-wheel-drive models.
Other changes include an available 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster available with the Limited and Platinum trim levels. Power folding mirrors are now offered on all models along with models with XLE as well as XSE trims come with the power liftgate that comes as the standard. The charger for smartphones that is wireless has been placed in a more comfortable location on the dashboard and there are a few minor exterior trim adjustments as well as an exterior color change that is called Cypress.
2023 Toyota Highlander Release Date & Price
Toyota has not yet announced pricing for the revised Highlander however, we believe it will cost a little higher than the 2022 model, which starts at $37,070 with the base L model and increases to $51,175 with the Platinum.
